Challenge Cup round-up

LEEDS MET produced a great display as they beat BRADFORD DUDLEY HILL 28-24.
The NCL Division One side eased into an 18-0 lead thanks to tries from Nathan Kitson, Jamie Steward and Anthony Lawton, each of which was improved by Kitson.
The students however clawed their way back into the contest with touchdowns from winger Gary Lockhead and loose forward Mufaro Mvududu, the second of which Gaz Hynes improved.
Max Chetwyn swept in for the opening score of the second half in the 47 minute which Hynes again improved, before Kitson landed a penalty on the hour mark in response.
Mvududu claimed his second try 15 minutes from time, and centre Christian Duncan touched down five minutes later as the away side took control.
Hynes added a conversion and a penalty to seal the famous win, meaning a last second effort from Aiden Douglas was nothing more than a consolation.
BARLA Lancashire Cup holders BANK QUAY BULLS cruised past ROCHDALE MAYFIELD 43-22.
David Shaw and Nick Braide crossed early on for tries that Glen Roberts improved, before Mayfield hit back with tries to Paul Brierley, Joe Quinley and Matt Calland, plus two Sam Butterworth goals.
The Bulls though added more points before half-time as David Foster and Eddie Vaughan touched down and Roberts added two conversions and two penalties for a 28-16 interval lead.
Foster and Vaughan added further tries in the second period as Roberts kicked three more goals and slotted over a field-goal for good measure, whilst Rochdale had to settle for a try by Jake Boardman which Butterworth improved.
BARLA Yorkshire Cup winners HUNSLET OLD BOYS ground out a 23-18 win over NCL Division Two side NORMANTON KNIGHTS.
Tom Alexander converted Matthew Wood’s fifth minute try to give the Knights an early lead and it stayed that way until a 25th minute effort from Kieran Murphy brought the Old Boys back into the contest.
Jamie Fields added a second just seven minutes later and his conversion meant that Hunslet had a 10-6 interval lead.
Their third try of the afternoon came via winger Jerome Malcolm before the Knights hit back through hooker Craig Wright.
Fields and Knights prop Dave Evans then exchanged scores with Ben Pepe tagging on a conversion for the Knights and Fields landing his third goal.
However, a late field-goal from Andy Hullock proved enough for the Old Boys to hang on.
MILLOM powered past fellow NCL Division Two side ECCLES 40-12.
Richard Openshaw and Adam Taher – plus two conversions from Taher – provided the Eccles points, but they could do little as the home side took control.
Ricky Donaghue, Ross Brookes and Anthony Green got the Cumbrians off to a flying start before Green added a second to halt an Eccles comeback.
The Woollybacks made the game safe with a powerful last quarter thanks to answered tries from Josh Banham, Green – with his hat-trick score – and Brookes who also completed his hat-trick to finish with a 20-point haul.
