Rugby League coach up for top award

Stephen has coached rugby league for 3-6 year olds for close to 30 years. He is an outstanding coach of young children, using multi-skills games and tasks to improve hand-eye co-ordination and the basic skills of rugby league.
The philosophy that underlies all his coaching is fun. His innovative coaching methods include the use of props such as space hoppers and the singing of songs.
Added to this are his excellent communication skills and emphasis on the individual participant.
Also shortlisted for the Children’s Coach of the Year Award are netball coach Hilary Edwards and volleyball coach Tom Middleton.
The Awards take place at the Lancaster, London in a glittering ceremony on the evening of 20 November.
The UK Coaching Awards 2012, hosted by sports coach UK and supported by Gillette, honours coaches and coaching organisations that have achieved outstanding success over the past 12 months
