Sheffield Eagles were hosted by the Lord Mayor of Sheffield, John Campbell at Sheffield Town Hall last Tuesday evening (23rd October)

Sheffield Eagles were hosted by the Lord Mayor of Sheffield, John Campbell at Sheffield Town Hall last Tuesday evening (23rd October) .


Around 70 people from the Eagles were in attendance; from Head Coach Mark Aston to match day volunteers along with members of the Grand Final winning squad including Quentin Laulu Togagae Scott Turner and Misi Taualpapa who all scored tries in the victory over Featherstone to reward the club with their biggest sporting achievement since the famous victory over Wigan Warriors in the Challenge Cup Final in 1998.


Speaking of the evening, Eagles Chairman Ian Swire said, “It was a great evening and I would again like to thank the Lord Mayor and the Council for hosting the Civic Reception for us.”


“It’s great to have support from the Council especially in such tough economic times as continue to back our push for Super League.”


Councillor John Campbell, Lord Mayor of Sheffield said: "The Sheffield Eagles are a credit to our city. Winning the Championship Grand Final is a fantastic achievement for them and Rugby League in Sheffield.


 


“It was my absolute pleasure to meet the team and show gratitude on behalf of the city.”


 


“I hope that the Eagles defend their trophy and will be back with it again next year as I'm sure do all of the Sheffield Eagles fans who have been a tremendous support to the team."
