RFL launch 2012 grassroots season review
The RFL has launched a review of the 2012 community Rugby League season with the aim of identifying the positives from the year as well as areas to improve for next season.
As the inaugural March to November season comes to a close, the thorough review will consist of meetings with key stakeholders involved in grassroots Rugby League and consultation with other sports, as well as a survey to give everyone the opportunity to air their views.
RFL Director of Participation David Gent said: “It is important that as we reach the end of what for many players and clubs was their first season playing in the summer we review what has worked well and what hasn’t.
“A full and thorough assessment of the season will then enable us to tweak and improve programmes for 2013 and also capitalise on the many gains the sport has experienced in 2012.
“We will be meeting with leagues, players, volunteers and county sports partnerships as well as other sports to hear a wide range of experiences and opinions.
“A key part of the consultation will be the use of an online survey which will allow participants to let us know quickly and easily how they found the 2012 season and any modifications they would suggest.
“All this information as well as the participation figures from the season will then be used to produce a report which will go to the RFL Community Board in January and we will be then able to take any recommendations forward and put them into place for the 2013 season.”
There were 21,000 Youth and Junior players registered for the 2012 March - November season and approximately 1,050 teams as well as 12,500 open age players registered across 500 teams.
The 2012 community Rugby League season survey will be launched later this month and everyone who has been involved in the season will be encouraged to have their say.
