Widnes Vikings have released former Wigan Warriors scrum-half Thomas Coyle, who missed the entire 2012 Super League season through injury.
 
Coyle, 24, who joined the Vikings ahead of their 2010 Championship season, was an ever-present in 2011 and given a full-time contract when the club returned to the top-flight 12 months ago.

However, he suffered a compound fracture of his left tibia and fibula during an Under-20s game in February 2012 which ruled him out of the rest of the campaign.

Widnes coach Denis Betts said: “On behalf of the club and its members and supporters, I would like to thank Thomas for his time, effort and energies spent in a Vikings shirt.

“Whilst doing so, I would also like to wish him the best of luck for his future.”
