Sides ready for shield finale

Fryston and Kells meet in inaugural final.

Fryston Warriors and Kells will contest the first ever RFL Challenge Shield Final on Sunday.

The teams have made it through to the showpiece event at Ince Rose Bridge, Wigan, after coming through several rounds with sides from all across the country having taken part in the Tier 4 knockout competition.

Former Castleford Tigers star Dean Sampson – who made 152 Super League appearances – is included in the Fryston squad, whilst the Cumbrians will travel down with community internationals Scott Lofthouse and Ryan Robb in their ranks.

The Yorkshire side will be looking for their second piece of silverware in a week after scooping the Yorkshire Men’s League title last weekend, whilst Kells currently lead the Iggesund Cumberland League Division One standings.
