Wakefield Trinity Wildcats have completed the signing of goalkicking stand-off Paul Sykes from Bradford Bulls.

The 31-year-old amassed 155 points in 22 matches for the Wildcats after joining them on loan from the Bulls in March and has now signed a contract for 2013.

Sykes scored in every game of his loan spell and landed last-gasp drop goals to win matches against St Helens and Hull KR that ultimately took them into the play-offs for only the third time.

“I’m so pleased it’s all done and dusted,” said Sykes, who also played for London Broncos and represented England in the 2008 World Cup.

“I didn’t know if I was going back to Bradford or going to get the opportunity to sign for Wakefield so I am glad it’s over the line now.

“I wasn’t playing much at Bradford so to play 22 games on the trot at Wakefield was pretty exciting times for myself.

“I really enjoyed my time on loan so I just wanted it to continue.”

Wakefield coach Richard Agar said: “We’re pleased to get the deal done.

“The change of environment has been really good for Paul and he’s enjoyed his football with us. He became an integral part of what we’re trying to achieve.

“He has found his role in our team and complimented the styles of the players around him as well as giving us an all-important kicking game.”
