Widnes Vikings have released back rower Kurt Haggerty and Australian prop John Kite from their 2012 Stobart Super League squad.

Haggerty made 42 appearances for the Vikings after making his debut midway through the 2010 Championship season, while former Canterbury Bulldogs and Melbourne forward Kite made just 15 appearances in his first season in Super League.

Vikings director of rugby Paul Cullen said: “In sport decisions such as this have to be made. We thank both of the players concerned for their efforts in a Vikings shirt and wish them the best of luck in the next chapter of their careers.”
