Rhinos wait on McGuire news

Leeds Rhinos have been handed a disciplinary worry over Danny McGuire ahead of Friday's Stobart Super League semi-final at Wigan Warriors.

Leeds Rhinos have been handed a major disciplinary worry ahead of Friday's Stobart Super League semi-final at Wigan Warriors after half-back Danny McGuire was charged with a reckless high tackle.

McGuire, who was put on report by referee Ben Thaler for the challenge on Catalan forward Louis Anderson during his side's 27-20 play-off win over the Dragons in Perpignan last Friday, will appear before the Rugby Football League's disciplinary committee tomorrow evening.

He has been charged by the RFL's match-review panel with a grade offence, which carries a suspension of one or two matches.

McGuire is unable to take an early-guilty plea which would have meant a one-match ban because of a previous offence in the last 12 months.

He was cited by the match-review panel for a dangerous tackle in a match against Bradford Bulls in July and handed a one-match ban.

Leeds are sure to fight the case after coach Brian McDermott insisted the tackle did not deserve a suspension, claiming there was an accidental collision.

The Rhinos had to go into last Friday's sudden-death tie without prop Kylie Leuluai after he was given a one-match ban for punching – though he will be back to face the Warriors.

Catalan Dragons forward Jamal Fakir has also been charged with a grade B reckless high tackle on Leeds hooker Rob Burrow but has the right to submit an early-guilty plea if he wishes.

Meanwhile, Hull FC second rower Joe Westerman will appear before the disciplinary committee after he was charged with committing a grade B high tackle on Warrington hooker Michael Monaghan during his side's 24-12 play-off defeat by the Wolves on Saturday.
