Blanch makes Catalan commitment

Australian winger Damien Blanch has signed a new two-year contract with Catalan Dragons.

Australian winger Damien Blanch has signed a new two-year contract with Catalan Dragons.

The 29-year-old’s deal was due to be up at the end of this season, but he will now remain in Perpignan until the end of 2014 at least.

He moved to France from Wakefield Trinity Wildcats ahead of the 2011 season and has been a hit at the Stade Gilbert Brutus, scoring 33 tries in 47 Stobart Super League appearances since.

“I’m more than happy to extend my contract here for the next two years,” he said.

“The last two seasons were really good for me. I’ve probably played my best rugby for the last two years.”

Blanch’s decision comes despite influential coach Trent Robinson last week announcing he was heading to the Sydney Roosters in 2013.
