Olympic Champion to visit Giants
Olympic Gold medallist and team pursuit racer Ed Clancy MBE will be the Guest of Honour for the crunch West Yorkshire derby against Challenge Cup Finalists Leeds Rhinos on Sunday 9th September at The John Smith’s Stadium, kick off 3pm courtesy of Club Main Partner Q-Connect.
Clancy, from West Yorkshire and bronze and gold medallist from the 2012 London Olympic Games, will bring out the match ball ready for kick-off before witnessing top class Rugby League as the Claret and Gold aim to do the double over the Rhinos.
Ed is set to get a rousing reception from the home supporters and Giants Business Development Officer Robbie Hunter-Paul believes it’s great for the club to have an Olympic Champion come and watch the Giants;
“Ed Clancy is a modern day sporting icon and his achievements in the cycling are outstanding. He managed to get gold in this year’s Olympics in the team pursuit as well as a bronze in the Omnium event;
“It’s absolutely fantastic for the club to have Ed come and witness world-class Rugby League; he has won numerous World Championships as well and he will present the match ball prior to kick-off and I’m sure the fans will give vociferous support to Ed as we aim to do the double over the Leeds Rhinos. We'd like to thank our Main Partner Q Connect and in particular Product Marketing Manager Stuart Bleese for their support in making this possible."
