Town star ready for play-off push

Jarrad Stack is confident Workington Town can make amends for losing out on top spot in Co-operative Championship One by progressing all the way through to the Play-off Final in a journey that begins against Oldham when the sides meet at Derwent Park on Sunday September 9 (3.00pm).
Workington ended the regular season in third position after consecutive defeats to Gateshead Thunder and Oldham and Stack says those results will spur the side on towards victory in the play-off final at The Halliwell Jones Stadium, Warrington, on September 30.
“Up until two weeks ago we had our hands on the top spot in the league and the prize money that is associated with that,” said Stack. “It was the defeat against Oldham a fortnight ago that took that away from us, so there is definitely a bit of pay back for us and we’ll be looking to make amends.
“We’re not going to focus on them, it’s a case of us playing our game and getting things right. They have some good players but our side is very talented and we have some great players and I believe if we play to our full potential we will run them off the park.
“We’re determined to make it to the final and playing at home with our fans behind us is always important for us. We know how much the club means to the fans and we’re determined to make it all the way for them.”
Workington’s third-place finish has already seen them secure promotion to the Championship for 2013 and whilst Stack is relishing the prospect of testing his skills at a higher level, he is keen to focus on a date at Warrington on September 30 before looking too far ahead.
“We’re in the Championship next season and I’m definitely looking forward to the challenge both collectively and individually,” he said. “There are some very good teams involved in the competition but I think Workington will be a side to reckon with in 2013.
“Before then we still have a job to do to reach the final and we’re determined to do it.”
