Gateshead Thunder 12-56 Oldham RLFC
Brocklehurst at the double
Mark Brocklehurst marked the 100th appearance of his career by scoring two tries as Oldham hammered Gateshead 56-12 to secure a Co-operative Championship 1 play-off place.
The Roughyeds raced into a 22-6 lead at half-time courtesy of a try from Alex Thompson, a Brocklehurst double and a score from John Clough, with half-back Jamie Dallimore successful with three conversions.
Joe Brown scored bottom of the table Gateshead's solitary try of the first half, with Gavin Beasley adding the extras for the visitors.
And Oldham continued their dominance after the break, with Miles Greenwood, Dallimore, Alex Thompson (two), Phil Joy and Lucas Onyango all adding tries and Dallimore converting five of those scores to take his personal tally to 20 points.
The victory ensured Oldham leapfrogged London Skolars into sixth and secured the final play-off spot and rounded off a miserable season for Gateshead, who scored a late try courtesy of Paul Stamp, with Brett Waller adding the extras.
