Ballard brace bags Barrow second spot

Andy Ballard inspired Barrow to a 34-22 Co-operative Championship 1 victory over South Wales Scorpions but they were pipped to league leaders shield by Doncaster.

The Raiders secured promotion as Ballard scored two tries and added five goals but Doncaster's 48-8 victory at London Skolars meant Darren Holt's side had to settle for second place.

Liam Harrison also crossed twice with Liam Campbell and Chris Larkin adding scores of their own.

Rhodri Lloyd, Alan Pope, Dalton Grant, Courtney Davies and Kristian Hawkes went over for the Scorpions.
