Injury ends Webb's Leeds career

Leeds Rhinos have confirmed that Brent Webb has played his last game for the club after being ruled out for the rest of the season.

Leeds Rhinos have confirmed that New Zealand full-back Brent Webb has played his last game for the club after being ruled out for the rest of the season with a recurrence of a knee injury.

Webb, who was a member of last October’s Grand Final-winning team, is leaving the Rhinos at the end of the season and is expected to sign for Catalan Dragons.

Webb, who arrived at Headingley in 2007 from New Zealand Warriors, made his 155th and final appearance for them at Wakefield Trinity Wildcats at the end of last month.

Leeds coach Brian McDermott said: “It is unfortunate for Brent that his time at the club finishes with an injury.

“He leaves the club with everyone’s best wishes and he is held in deep affection by all at the Rhinos.”

Rhinos chief executive Gary Hetherington added: “I am sure in the years to come, Brent will be regarded as one of the finest overseas players Leeds has ever had and one of the most exciting and talented full-backs to feature in Stobart Super League.”
