Warrington Wolves prop forward Paul Wood has been cited for punching during his side’s Challenge Cup final win over Leeds Rhinos but will not receive any further punishment.

Wood was penalised by referee Richard Silverwood for the punch on Rhinos centre Carl Ablett during the first half of the Wolves’ 35-18 victory at Wembley and today charged by the Rugby Football League’s match-review panel with a grade A offence, which carries a punishment of up to a one-match ban.

The player avoided any suspension after admitting the offence but has now lost the right to submit another early-guilty plea in the next 12 months.
