The Teesside Bulls can reflect on a tremendous first season.

Such has been their progress the Cleveland-based club have gone from forming in February to reaching the North East Regional Grand Final earlier this month.

The club – started by a chance meeting between Dave King and Liam Turner – approached Guisborough RUFC and after all working together alongside RFL North East Development Manager Jo Drapier and local MP Tom Blenkinsop a club was formed just two weeks before the season kicked off.

A first training session was attended by 20 players and as the season progressed player numbers increased to an impressive squad of over 40, with new arrivals coming from union clubs such as Redcar, Acklam and Middlesbrough.

“We’ve had a great season and loved every minute of it,” said Chairman Dave King.

“We now have a squad of 40 players from a zero start and are looking forward to developing the club further next season.

“We have formed a great partnership with the local press and receive great support from the Evening Gazette in particular.

“I would like to say a huge thanks to Guisborough Rugby Union Club for all their help and support along with our sponsors and we look forward to a long term partnership showing Rugby League and Union can work together with a common goal.

“The futures bright the futures Yellow & Black with a touch of Purple!”

The club would like to thank sponsors Tees Valley Leisure, The Co-operative, Valued Accountancy Services, Devanys newsagents and Imagine You Can TV.
