Long-serving loose forward Scott Murrell is to leave Hull KR at the end of the season, the club have confirmed.

The 26-year-old joined the Robins from Leeds Rhinos in 2006 and has made 150 appearances for them since, playing a key role in the side which won promotion to Stobart Super League in the same season.

He has found a regular first-team place harder to come by over recent times, though, especially since the departure of the coach who signed him, Justin Morgan.

“Scott Murrell is hugely popular within the club, and the game generally. He is of course a survivor from our National League days, and was a try scorer in that Grand Final success over Widnes," said chairman Neil Hudgell.

"I would like to personally place on record my thanks to Scott for all his efforts down the years and he will always be welcome here. I am sure our fans will, at the right time, give him the send-off he deserves.”
