Match Preview and Squad announcement

Town sweating on Baker

Danny Barker will be checked ahead of Sunday's Co-operative Championship 1 visit of Workington Town, with the Gateshead Thunder winger hoping to recover from a leg injury.

Brett Waller is definitely back after completing a recent suspension, giving Thunder coach Kevin Neighbour plenty of options ahead of Sunday's fixture.

Neighbour said: "Our performances now are about personal pride.

"The lads are doing everything they can to get a couple of results before the end of the season, but only our performances will determine whether we do that. We've stuck together as much as we possibly can, and the lads deserve a couple of results now."

Workington could be unchanged from last week's 22-6 defeat at Doncaster, but coach Gary Charlton is demanding major improvements in his side's attacking ability.

Charlton said: "We defended quite well against Doncaster, but our attack let us down. We weren't completing sets and we weren't asking questions of their defence."

Charlton has also warned his squad against complacency ahead of the trip to the north east. He said: "If you don't put the effort in, you don't get anything out.

"When you go on the field you've got to give 100 per cent all the time. We know it's going to be tough, but if we play well we should hopefully get the three points."
