Leeds Rhinos full-back Brent Webb has been handed a two-match ban for a reckless high tackle during his side’s shock 38-18 defeat at Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.

The former New Zealand international, who was hoping to push his claims for a Carnegie Challenge Cup final place after being out for six weeks with a knee injury, was put on report two minutes into his comeback game for the challenge on Wakefield captain Danny Kirmond.

He was charged by the Rugby Football League’s match-review panel with a grade B offence and he admitted the offence when he appeared in front of the disciplinary committee, which also handed him a £300 fine.

The Rhinos have just three more Stobart Super League games before the cup final against Warrington Wolves on August 25.

Wildcats forward Oliver Wilkes was suspended for one match after admitting a reckless tackle on Leeds scrum-half Rob Burrow. Wilkes, who pleaded not guilty, was also fined £300.
