Catalan Dragons coach Trent Robinson believes evergreen forward Steve Menzies will have no problem playing a fourth game in 16 days when his side meet Hull FC in a re-arranged Stobart Super League match in Perpignan tomorrow.

Menzies, at 38 the oldest player ever to appear in Super League, has spent the last fortnight on the road, helping the Exiles beat England before playing for his club in Monday night’s match at Warrington Wolves.

The former Australia international played the full 80 minutes of the 15-6 defeat by the Wolves and will not be rested for the game against Hull, which was postponed in February because of a frozen pitch.

“I thought about starting him off the bench or replacing him midway through the second half on Monday but I thought he was awesome,” said Robinson.

“I’ve run out of things to say about Steve. I thought he played awesome for the Exiles and he created a lot of spark on Monday.

“His body is not telling him or us that he’s ready to retire.”

Menzies, who joined Bradford Bulls in 2009 for what he thought would be one final season, has yet to decide whether to play on in 2013 which would take him to the brink of his 40th birthday.

Robinson added: “He doesn’t think about the long-term. His missus is the boss. She does that for him.

“I think I’ll have to go to him and remind him that he doesn’t have a contract for next year and ask him what he wants to do. We’ll get to that at some stage.”

The Dragons can go third by winning their game in hand while Hull need the points to halt their slide down the table after winning just one of their last six matches.

The Black and Whites are without 12 players through injury, with four of their starting 13 out for the year, and coach Peter Gentle has called up England academy hooker James Cunningham, 18, and winger Tom Lineham, 20, for what would be their debuts if selected.
