Widnes Vikings have given prop forward Steve Pickersgill a new contract for 2013.

Pickersgill, 26, has made 60 appearances for the Vikings since joining them three years ago from Warrington Wolves.

“Obviously, I’m over the moon,” he said. “My current deal at the club was coming to an end and this is something which is always in the back of your mind, no matter how hard you try to forget about it.

“Signing this one-year extension is a big weight off my shoulders and has given me even more motivation to finish this season strongly, before focussing my intentions on improving even more in 2013.”
