Catalan Dragons forward Lopini Paea has signed a new two-year contract which will keep him at the Perpignan club until the end of 2014.

The 28-year-old Tongan international was out of contract at the end of the season and had been linked with a move to Hull FC.

“I’m very happy to stay here,” he said. “We are building something great with the Catalan Dragons and I’m happy to be a part of it.

“I hope we’ll write the history in the next two seasons and win a trophy.”

Paea, whose brother Micky plays for Hull KR, has made 36 Stobart Super League appearances since joining the Dragons from Sydney Roosters two years ago. He has missed only one game this season.
