Thornton becomes a City Knight

Former Batley Bulldogs coach Gary Thornton will succeed Chris Thorman at York City Knights next season.
Thornton, who is currently in charge of Castleford Tigers’ Under-20s team, has signed a two-year contract to take over from Thorman, who is leaving to join Huddersfield Giants’ backroom staff.
“I am absolutely delighted to be back as a head coach with York City Knights,” said Thornton, who was in charge of Batley from 2003-09.
“This is a club I have always admired. There are some exciting times ahead with the move to the new stadium and I am honoured to be a part of that.”
