Williams extends Tigers stay

Warrington Wolves have extended the loan spell of Rhys Williams at Castleford Tigers and allowed James Laithwaite to join Hull KR.

Warrington Wolves have extended the loan spell of winger Rhys Williams at Castleford Tigers and allowed academy back-row forward James Laithwaite to join Hull KR for a month.

Williams initially joined the Tigers for a month but will now make his fifth appearance for them in tomorrow’s Stobart Super League match at Widnes Vikings.

The 20-year-old Laithwaite has returned from a dual registration at Championship club Leigh and is hoping to make his Super League debut for Hull KR.

“This will give James a step up into the Stobart Super League, providing him with an opportunity to build up some professional game-time in the top-flight competition,” said a Warrington spokesman.

Another Warrington Under-20s player, centre James Mendeika, will take Laithwaite’s place at Leigh on dual registration terms.
