England captain Jamie Peacock is hoping victories by the national teams will rub off on the Leeds Rhinos players as they look to get their Stobart Super League campaign back on track in tonight’s re-arranged home game against Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.

The champions are expecting all six players involved in England’s 18-10 win over the Exiles on Saturday, as well as the four who helped the Knights to a 62-4 triumph over Ireland, to answer the call of their club 48 hours later.

Peacock put his hand up to play immediately after leading England to success in their opening Origin international at Langtree Park and he will be making the 450th appearance of his career in a match postponed from February because of Leeds’ appearance in the World Club Challenge.

“I will be backing up,” he said. “I’m looking forward to the challenge of that. We’re not in a position where we can rest players.

“One of the downfalls of being successful is to have to double up in games like these.”

Peacock was delighted with England’s victory, which avenged their last-gasp defeat in last year’s inaugural Origin clash, and relished the chance to return to winning ways after a dismal run with his club.

“It’s good to be involved in a big game and win one for a change,” he said. “We’ve not been doing that of late.

“It’s great to feel that kind of dominance and go on and win a game.”

The Exiles will have a chance to level the series when the sides meet again at Huddersfield on July 4.

Coach Daniel Anderson was forced to patch up his side following the late withdrawal of four front-line players and, along with Wigan Warriors coach Shaun Wane, will anxiously await the outcome of scans on Thomas Leuluai’s ankle.

The scrum-half, who took over the captaincy from the absent Brett Hodgson, twisted awkwardly pulling off a tackle on winger Ryan Hall on the hour and had to be carried off on a stretcher with ligament damage.
