Shenton returning to Castleford
Castleford Tigers have started their preparations for 2013 by announcing a deal that will bring Michael Shenton back to the club.
The 25-year-old left the Tigers for St Helens at the start of the 2011 season after making 153 appearances for them.
He scored a try for the Saints in their Grand Final loss to Leeds last October and, when he went off with an elbow injury, it was widely considered to have helped swing the game in the Rhinos' favour.
He was initially expected to secure a move to Hull KR for next season, but has now agreed a return to his first club, and coach Ian Millward is pleased to have captured his signature on a four-year deal.
"Michael is a quality centre who is very much a current international and has experience of playing in a Grand Final," he said.
"It is brilliant news for the club both on and off the field. For him to make the decision to go back to Cas over quite a few other clubs is a big vote of confidence for us going forward.
"Not only are we getting a quality player, he comes with a mentoring role and he brings experience that we're looking for."
