Hull to host Wheelchair Rugby League Four Nations

Hull’s Bonus Arena will host an international Wheelchair Rugby League development festival involving England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales on the weekend of July 7 and 8.

Hull’s Bonus Arena will host an international Wheelchair Rugby League development festival involving England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales on the weekend of July 7 and 8.

The Four Nations tournament is being held in preparation for the 2013 Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup and aims to attract new players eligible to represent their country in this exciting sport.

Wheelchair Rugby League is unique in that it offers both disabled and non-disabled players of both sexes the opportunity to compete both with and against each other on a level playing field created by the use of wheelchairs and some slight adaptations of the rules of Rugby League.

The competing teams will be hosted at Bishop Burton College for the duration of the tournament and teams will be transported daily to the Bonus Arena, a facility ideal for what will be a popular event.

Only players who have not previously represented their country at Wheelchair Rugby League can be considered for this development competition.

If have either a direct or ancestral claim to eligibility to play for any of the home nations and would like to be considered for selection please contact the RFL’s Martin Flynn on martin.flynn@rfl.uk.com or 0113 237 5020 as soon as possible.

The event will be a residential weekend for competing teams, with the players arriving at Bishop Burton College on Friday evening July 6 for an evening meal, group briefing and social gathering.

The weekend’s competition will consist of joint training sessions and round robin games at the Bonus Arena.

The cost of this event is being met largely by sponsorship and local fund raising, however we are asking for a contribution of £50.00 per participant to the cost of accommodation.

Sponsors are being sought to support this tournament in a variety of ways, each of which will assist companies in exposing their brand to a wide audience of participants and spectators alike.

If you would like any further information about this competition please contact Martin Flynn on martin.flynn@rfl.uk.com or 0113 237 5020
