Carnegie Champion Schools Year 11 Girls Final

Deanery High School 0
Castleford ran out comfortable winners as they saw off a resilient Deanery side 24-0 to be crowned Carnegie Champion Schools Year 11 Girls champions.
Both sides defended bravely throughout the game, but ultimately the Yorkshire side’s goal-line defence and extra spark gave them the cutting edge.
Player of the match Brogan Churm scored twice in five minutes to give Castleford a cushion at half time, before the classy Ellie Smith took over creating and scoring a try to kill any thoughts of a Deanery comeback.
Castleford captain Beth Lewis said “I’m really proud of the girls, we’ve played together for so long and it’s been a great experience. I’m really pleased that we got the win to finish off on a high as a team.”
Despite seeing his side defeated, Deanery coach Kris Sweeney was proud of his side: “We gave a good account of ourselves and we were not disgraced. The girls put in a great effort today and over the five years and I’m very proud of all their efforts.”
