Chase banned for three games
Super League Man of Steel Rangi Chase has been handed a three-match ban for the challenge that left Featherstone Rovers winger Tangi Ropati with a broken jaw.
Chase was ordered to face the Rugby Football League’s disciplinary committee after being put on report during Castleford Tigers’ 23-16 Carnegie Challenge Cup fifth-round defeat at the Bigfellas Stadium on Saturday.
He was tonight found guilty of the grade C offence at a hearing in Leeds and was given a £300 fine in addition to a three-game ban.
Former Sheffield Eagles and Widnes Vikings threequarter Ropati has had his jaw plated after breaking it in two places and is facing a lay-off of between 10 and 12 weeks.
Catalan Dragons prop David Ferriol has been cleared to face Leeds Rhinos in Friday’s match at Headingley.
He was found guilty of illegal use of his knees on Hull KR’s Rhys Lovegrove during last Sunday’s 20-18 Cup win and fined £300.
