Clubb aiming for Cup glory

London Broncos star Tony Clubb says an appearance in this season’s Carnegie Challenge Cup final could be the perfect way to boost Rugby League’s standing in the capital city and provide him with the crowning moment in his career so far.
Clubb’s side host Championship opponents Dewsbury Rams on Sunday April 15 (2.00pm) and the Gravesend-born player, who has come to love the historic competition despite not growing up watching the Challenge Cup final on television, believes the Broncos can go all the way.
"It's been a long time and it would be a massive for the fans down here in London,” said Clubb. "I made my first appearance in the Cup a few years ago when I played for Harlequins against Toulouse and I understand now what a big competition it is and how a lot of good teams have gone on to win it.
“It's a massive, massive competition and we can do well if we play to our best. If we were to get to Wembley it would be the biggest achievement of my career so far.”
The centre-turned-backrower has been to both the old and new Wembley Stadium in the past but only to watch football and while he’s dreaming of taking his first steps on the hallowed turf in 2012, he is not taking anything for granted.
"I've been to the old and new Wembley to watch football but I never watched a final there and always wanted to go to one,” he said. “Hopefully this year I can be in one and being down here - we wouldn't have to travel that far.
"The Easter period is pretty tough and we've got to back up this weekend. I don't really know much about Dewsbury but one of our lads, Benny Bolger, is there at the moment and he says they're looking really good, so we'll go into it as though we're playing another Super League team.
"Some teams have gone into games against Championship sides and have come unstuck. We don't want that to happen to us."
