Wellens and Laffranchi banned

St Helens will be without captain Paul Wellens and prop forward Anthony Laffranchi for the Good Friday derby with Wigan Warriors after both players were handed one-match bans.
They were cited by the Rugby Football League’s match-review panel for dangerous tackles during Saints’ 28-16 win at Warrington Wolves and were tonight found guilty of the offences when they appeared in front of the RFL’s disciplinary committee in Leeds. They were also fined £300.
Bradford Bulls forward John Bateman will miss both his club’s Easter fixtures after being suspended for two games.
Bateman, who was accompanied to the hearing by coach Mick Potter and the club solicitor, was found guilty of making a dangerous throw on Hull FC scrum-half Brett Seymour during the Bulls’ 24-18 away defeat.
