Scorpions take Prescott on loan

Prop Paul Prescott, a member of Wigan Warriors’ Carnegie Challenge Cup-winning team at Wembley last August, has joined South Wales Scorpions on loan.
Prescott, who has recovered from a back injury, will play for them tomorrow when he will be joined in the Scorpions line-up for the Northern Rail Cup match against Toulouse by his Wigan team-mates Greg Burke and Gil Dudson, who will both be playing on a dual-registration.
The move is part of the newly-formed link between the two clubs and, with four players on the injury list and another four unavailable to travel to France, Scorpions coach Dave Clark is delighted with the helping hand from the Stobart Super League giants.
“It’s fantastic that we have this assistance from the Warriors,” he said. “It’s been quite an insane week selecting the team with one player or another either injured or unavailable.
“We’re grateful to Paul, Greg and Gil for stepping in and we’re looking forward to seeing them in Scorpions jerseys on Saturday evening.”
Prescott, 26, who has made 134 Super League appearances, made his comeback in a Wigan Under-20s match at Castleford Tigers last Sunday but they have no fixture this weekend.
Wigan coach Shaun Wane said: “Paul needs a game this weekend so he’s going to have a run with South Wales. He’s got his passport ready and hopefully he’ll be back pressing for a first-team spot soon.”
Welsh international Dudson is a familiar name to the Scorpions, having scored five tries in 18 appearances already for them before joining Crusaders RL.
