The University of Bath Broncos capped a dream debut season in the BUCS League by beating nearest challengers Swansea to wrap up the Wales & West Conference title.

Saturday's hard-fought 20-14 victory meant Broncos finished the campaign with nine wins from ten matches and a points difference of +276.

Loose forward Harry Chapman-Walker has played every minute for the team this season, while hooker Matthew MacDonald was named as man of the match last weekend.

There is plenty still to play for as well, with Broncos set to take part in the BUCS Trophy knockout competition before entertaining University of Exeter on March 24 in a Varsity game.

Captain Ste Taylor said: "It has been an outstanding first season for the boys, we have enjoyed every minute of it.

"I am thoroughly looking forward to the BUCS Trophy, it will be an opportunity to play against some great teams and really test the lads ahead of the Varsity match."

Team founder Ali Dawson added: "We have come so far in the last 18 months and I am so proud of what we have achieved.

"We are excited for the future of Rugby League in Bath and would love some local support on March 24."

Meanwhile, 12 University of Bath students will find out later this week whether they have been selected for the South West regional team after attending trials on Sunday.
