Four Nations eliminator the hottest ticket in town
Fewer than 3,000 tickets remain for the biggest game of the 2011 Rugby League calendar so far as England prepare to take on defending champions New Zealand in a Gillette Four Nations showdown at the KC Stadium, Hull, tomorrow (6.00pm).
With a place in the Gillette Four Nations final at stake, the match is already certain to set a new record attendance for a game played between the two sides in the UK and fans are being urged to move quickly if they are to secure their seat for the most eagerly anticipated game of the season.
The previous record crowd of 19,360, set in 2009, has already tumbled as the country gets behind England in an attempt to spur the side on as they seek to secure a rematch against Australia in next weekend’s final at Elland Road, Leeds.
“The game between England and New Zealand has all the ingredients of a modern classic and that has been reflected in the level of interest we have seen in the game this week,” said RFL Chief Executive Nigel Wood.
“There has been a lot of awareness in the fixture since the competition began but it has taken on a new level during the past week and it will be fantastic to see the sides take to the pitch in front of a near-capacity crowd in Hull.
“The KC Stadium in one of this country’s best sporting venues and fans will have to move quickly if there are to be part of what is sure to be a very special occasion and a must-see fixture.”
