Help Wheelchair Rugby League at Wembley

Supporters watching the Gillette Four Nations double header at Wembley Stadium on Saturday November 5 can help the development of Wheelchair Rugby League via text thanks to a new initiative by the Rugby League Foundation.
A significant barrier to participation in this fast growing sport is the cost of sport wheelchairs and fans can raise money to help alleviate this by texting the code WTAG01 to 70070 and then choosing how much to donate.
The RFL’s Director of Participation David Gent said: “The Rugby League Foundation has established a relationship with Vodafone and Just Text Giving which has created this fantastic opportunity to raise funds for a charitable activity.
“The total amount raised will be used to support Wheelchair Rugby League and create more opportunities for people to participate in, and enjoy this exciting and inclusive sport.
“We want to raise as much as we possibly can and are aiming to raise a minimum of £15,000 which would be used to purchase 10 sport wheelchairs and provide infrastructure to ensure that the equipment can be transported to various venues, events and activities across the country.
“Money raised over and above the target amount will be put towards the further development of Wheelchair Rugby League and could be ring fenced for community activity at the Rugby League World Cup in 2013.”
The initiative will be launched at the Gillette Four Nations double header at Wembley Stadium on Saturday November 5 and it is hoped to roll this out at the remaining Four Nations games culminating in the final on Saturday November 19.
There will be information in the match day programme and on the PA system at the stadium on how to use the text service to donate to Wheelchair Rugby League.
The text service is now live and there is no geographical restriction meaning that fans watching the game anywhere in the UK can donate.
