Community raffle winner named

8th of October 2011

Fiona Ramage, from Bishop Auckland, is the winner of the 2011 Community Game Raffle.

Community Board Member Damian Clayton MBE was on hand to make the draw earlier today at the Community Congress which was staged at The Point, Lancashire CCC.

Fiona can now look forward to a seven night all inclusive stay for two at the Turtle Beach Resort, Barbados.

The superb prize – donated by Elegant Hotels – also includes £500 worth of spending money.

Over 34,000 thousand tickets have been sold in this year’s raffle, meaning almost £24,000 had been raised by the selling clubs and schools whilst the Rugby League Foundation also benefited from a £10,200 donation.

Since its launch back in 2008 the raffle has proved to be a huge success and after this year ticket sales have now smashed through the 100,000 barrier.

Other prizes drawn included a two night mini-cruise to Amsterdam, Rotterdam or Bruges, a two-person VIP package to the 2012 Super League Grand Final and tickets to Manchester United and Arsenal games.

The raffle was organised by the Community Games Services department of the RFL.
