Bulls snap up Kear
Bradford Bulls have signed Welsh international winger Elliot Kear on a three-year contract.
The 22-year-old, who spent part of the 2011 season on a dual registration at Hunslet, is the Bulls’ second recruit from the defunct Crusaders RL, joining Australian half-back Jarrod Sammut at Odsal.
He is the latest Crusaders player to find a new home following the demise of the Wrexham club, who hope to get the nod to re-form in Championship One.
“If you had told me 12 months ago that I’d be signing for Bradford I’d have laughed in your face,” said Kear, who turned down an offer from Widnes.
“I started following Super League a few years ago and began supporting the Bulls. I remember them winning everything and just ripping up the competition.
“My dad bought me the 2007 centenary Bulls shirt for Christmas and to be playing for them now is unbelievable.”
Bradford football manager Stuart Duffy said: “We are delighted to have secured the signature of Elliot. He had offers from other Super League clubs but has chosen to come to Odsal.
“Elliot is just the sort of player we want at the club. He is young, ambitious, versatile, strong and has great pace and we feel he will be a great addition to our squad for next season.”
