Bury Jigsaw upset defending champions Halifax WRLC 56-47 in a closely contested Super League final at the Wheelchair Rugby League finals day at Richard Dunn leisure centre in Bradford on Sunday.
Man of the match Martin Norris collected four tries whilst Paul McCormick completed a hat trick in Bury’s 9-point victory.
Jack Brown also bagged a hat trick of tries for Halifax and added a drop goal late on in the game. Soon after Browns drop goal, Wayne Boardman weaved his way to the try line to cut the deficit to three with seven minutes to play.
But Halifax couldn’t find a breakthrough. Norris landed his fourth try of the game with a minute left on the clock to seal the win and lift the trophy for Bury.
Earlier on in the day, hosts Bradford Bulls defeated the Mersey Vikings 52-46 in the Championship final. Jordan Lee scored a hat trick in the last six minutes to secure the title for his side.
