The RFL can confirm that it has received a formal application to participate in the Co-operative Championship in 2012 from Crusaders, the Wrexham-based club which will be displaced from Engage Super League at the end of the current season.

That application will now go before the RFL Board of Directors for consideration. The Board is expected to reach a decision on the application within the next 14 days.

The RFL will be making no further comment on the application.
