Knights form new partnership in Selby

Selby Abbey Leisure and York City Knights Rugby League Club will for the first time work in partnership to offer a Holiday Club based at the leisure centre.
This builds on the holiday club both have up and running but hopefully by combining forces the event will prove a major success.
It is hoped that the venture will attract new comers to the sport and entice those already involved with community clubs to be involved in part of the fun and the opportunity to meet a professional Rugby player from the Knights.
Although the Holiday club will be predominately based around Rugby other sports will be offered on the programme and should appeal to a wide audience.
The club aimed at 7-14 year olds for both boys and girls, with no previous playing experience necessary in Rugby. Selby Abbey leisure centre is the ideal venue to host the club boosting fantastic indoor and outdoor facilities in addition to the Swimming pool, with free swim being included in the price.
The holiday club will be running on the 16th, 18th, and 30th August and the 1st September, 10am -3pm and offers superb value for money at just £10 per day. The club involves York City Knights Player appearance, certificate and a free junior ticket to see a Knights home game.
All sessions will be lead by newly appointed Community Rugby League Coach to area Adam Prentis who is based at the leisure centre. The newly appointed position is of a result of a newly formed partnership by the Rugby Football League (RFL) and Wigan Culture and Leisure Trust (WCLT) whom Selby Leisure Services are managed by in partnership with Selby District Council.
It is hoped the new position can help facilitate the existing Rugby League development in the Selby area.
Prentis said “During the summer holidays some parents may struggle to entertain for the full 6 weeks. This new club is a great opportunity to get some exercise, learn some new skills, and make some new friends.”
