Rugby League legend Alex Murphy has been confirmed as one of the special guests for the Evening With England RL at Leigh Sports Village on Thursday (May 27).

Few players ever played with as much passion in the Test arena as the former Wigan, St Helens and Leigh half-back, who will join new England coach Steve McNamara and current England internationals including James Graham and Sam Tomkins for the meet-the-fans evening.

Murphy has already given McNamara his full backing as England’s new coach prepares for the Gillette Fusion International at Leigh on Saturday June 12 and the Four Nations Down Under in the autumn and a man who gained 27 caps for Great Britain is looking forward to meeting up with the new national coach.

“For me Steve is definitely the best man for the job and it will be good to meet him on Thursday,” said Murphy, who is also a big fan of Wigan half-back Sam Tomkins.

“Sam has loads of ability and it will be interesting to see how he goes this year.”

As well as having the chance to meet McNamara, Murphy and Tomkins, fans can also win prizes including signed England shirts and tickets to the Gillette Fusion International during a fun-filled night which will be co-hosted by Jack Dearden of BBC Radio Manchester and BBC radio Five Live’s George Riley.

The evening will also include a They Think It’s All Over style quiz featuring the England stars and a question and answer session. Puma Sports, official kit suppliers to the England team, will also be in attendance selling the new 2010 range of England apparel.

Tickets for the Evening With England RL at Leigh Sports Village on Thursday May 27 cost just £2 payable on the door and are strictly limited to the first 200 people.
