1980/81 Championship Winning Team Re-union
Next Sunday At the Knights match against the Hunslet Hawks some of York Rugby League all time greats will be gathering in Bar 13 for a long overdue reunion of the Championship winning side of 1980-81.
York coach of the time Les Sheard has literally scoured the globe for this get together with Peter Innes flying in especially for the event from his home in Australia and Tony Retford travelling over from South Africa.
Also in the party will be former crowd favourite and current York Lokomotive's coach Paul McDermott, Brendan White, Johnny Crossley, Bill Kirkbride, Mick Hagan and many many more. After the Knights match we will be showing a DVD of York v Fulham played in front of over 7,000 people at Clarence Street and fan's will be able to join the reunion party for a chat about old times and compare like for like with the current squad.
Teams finishing below York that season included Wigan and big spending Fulham and York wrapped up the Championship with victory over Hunslet so a repeat on Sunday will make the day all the more satisfying.
As part of the re-union Paul McDermott is raising funds for the York City Knights Foundation, which supports the clubs Community Development Programme. Paul is aiming to get 17 businesses/individuals to donate £75 and for this each sponsor/individual will be allocated a Knights player for the day.

'Knight for the Fans'
On Friday 14th of August the Knights Supporters club will be hosting a 'Knight for the Fans' in Bar 13. The event will start at 7:30pm and will include a question and answers session with James Ratcliffe, Ian Wilson and a selection of the players.
In addition to this the Live Superleague Game will be shown and there will be a pool and darts competition which the players will be involved in. Bitter and lager will be served at £1.50 a pint.

Questions must be submitted by the 9th August. Entry will be £2 payable on the door.
Reserves v Hunslet
The Knights Reserves are next in action this coming Thursday (23rd July), 8pm kick off against Hunslet at the Huntington Stadium. The Knights have won their last two games including a great win against league leaders Featherstone last week. The Knights squad will be named on Wednesday.
Entry to the game as always is just £3 Adults and £1 U16's and your support is very much appreciated. The Championship clash between Sheffield and Gateshead will be shown from 7:30pm.
