Rams 'MAD' Scheme Gets Underway
The first training session of the Dewsbury Rams Mentoring and Development programme was held last week when Rams players Kane Epati and Keegan Hirst went along to training session with Shaw Cross Sharks Under 9's.
They focussed on tackling techniques, one-on-one defence and also some ball handling skills and gave the young players advice on specific things to concentrate on and think about from a professional players' perspective when playing in a match.
Under 9's coach James Stephenson said: "The mentoring session carried out with Kane and Keegan was set on defensive technique, and straight from the start it was evident that the under 9's were completely "switched on" to their instruction and demonstration. All the players were really positive in their attitude to the learning and proved it so during the drills. The tips, advice and sharing from the Rams players was second to none and paid off dividends as the young Sharks proved the following day by displaying one of their finest defensive and technical performances of the season so far, the guys are already asking for their next session, and hopefully this will prove its worth again"
