Thierry was appointed to the super league referees list in 2009 and has refereed over 55 games. He was appointed to the French Grand Final and French cup final 12 times and was selected as the French referee for 2000 world cup in England and 2008 in Australia

How did you get introduced into refereeing?
I started refereeing at the age of 16. I was also playing at that time for Lescure d'Albigeois. Breaking my left arm put a hold on my playing career, however as I was passionate about rugby, I decided to focus on refereeing to keep me involved.
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
There have been various highlights in my career so far, such as being the first French referee to be promoted to Super League as well as being part of the referee squad for the 2008 World Cup in Australia.
What is the best game you have officiated and why?
Samoa v Ireland in the 2008 World Cup. Samoa were favorites to qualify but Ireland took the spoils and got through to the quarter final
What are your aims as a full time referee?
My aims are to improve and manage my career within the full time group and to encourage youngsters to become professional referees
What skills do you think you need to become a super league referee?
You need to be able to manage players and stay composed. You also need to have the desire and mental strength to overcome all the pressure that goes with the role. Ater every game it's necessary to mentally move on and prepare yourself for your game the following week.
Who has been the biggest influence in your career and why?
The ex-international referee from Albi; Alain Sablayrolles,the French official director when I started refereeing Marcel Caillol and other French referees; F.Desplas and J Rascagnere
In your opinion who is /was the best referee?
I have met a few referees but Stuart Cummings and Ashley Klein. Two different generations and different styles.
