Huddersfield Giants prop Paul Jackson has been appointed vice-captain of Scotland ahead of today's opening World Cup pool B match against France at Canberra Stadium.

"It was a great surprise for me and a great honour," said the former Wakefield Trinity Wildcats and Castleford Tigers forward.

Scotland team manager Richard Thewlis said: "Paul always gives his all for Scotland and this honour is fully deserved. We know he will lead the way up front and will be great support for our captain Danny Brough."
