DECISION ON CHARGE |
Player plea: |
Did not admit the Charge |
Summary of CM’s submissions on the Charge / evidence: |
In attempting to tackle the Hull KR number 12, the Player ended up with his arm round the neck of the Hull player and then continued to maintain this position pulling the Hull KR to the ground by his neck in the process when he should have adjusted his hold. CM explained that the Match Review Panel considered the Player’s actions to be a careless grapple tackle at the least serious end of the range of illegal tackles and accordingly considered it to be a Grade A offence not necessitating any suspension |
Summary of Player’s submissions on the Charge / evidence: |
Represented by Brian McLennan - Head Coach. Kevin Sinfield didn't apply force. Clinton Toopi provided the momentum, not Kevin Sinfield by pulling the player's neck. Kevin Sinfield moved away from the tackle and only maintained contact to slow the play the ball down. The Hull KR player was not under any stress during the tackle and was not in any danger. |
Decision: |
Misconduct Offence committed: Law: 15.1(b) Detail: Careless grapple tackle Grade: A |
Reasons for Decision: |
There is no doubt that there was cotnact with the head during the tackle. That kind of tackle has to be avoided as it is potentially dangerous. |
