Purpose
The Rugby League Foundation is a charitable body whose purpose is to support the development of sport with small-scale awards (normally to a maximum of £10,000) specifically in the areas of disadvantaged young people, universities, schools and the development of their local communities. The criteria are listed in the deeds, however, as a rule of thumb; Trustees prefer to consider awards where the Foundation can actually make the difference between a project being able to run and it failing to start.

Awarding Policy
The Trust will only consider written applications for support that are received with relevant supporting documentation. Trustees will be keen to see other partners involved in the project and would prefer to be the Award that “makes the difference”. Awards may be spread over a period of time, e.g. three years, subject to annual review. The range of bodies and projects that can be considered is deliberately wide and varied to maintain the dynamic and creative element of the Foundation. Normally applications must be submitted at least three months prior to the start of the project. On no account will retrospective applications be considered.
